If you’re a fan of golden sand and crystal-clear waters, you’ve come to the right place. In this guide, we present a selection of the best sandy beaches in Mallorca, where you can relax, swim, and enjoy the island’s natural beauty:
Es Trenc
Located in the southeast of the island, near Palma, Es Trenc is one of Mallorca’s most famous and photogenic beaches. With its white sand and turquoise waters, it resembles a Caribbean beach.
Its natural dunes and unspoiled environment make it a haven for wildlife and a perfect spot for long seaside walks. The area is divided into three sections, all featuring sand and crystal-clear water: Sa Ràpita – Ses Covetes – Es Trenc. However, Es Trenc is the most famous due to its beauty.
If you’re driving, you’ll find (paid) parking available. If you’d like to enjoy a paella right on the beach, the Es Trenc restaurant, located behind the dunes, also has parking, making it a good option to consider.
Playa de Muro or Alcudia Beach
Located in the north of the island, this beach is ideal for families and is one of our preferred beaches of Mallorca. Its shallow waters and long stretch of golden sand make it perfect for children to play and swimmers of all ages to relax.
It is also home to several bars and restaurants offering delicious Mediterranean cuisine. Parking is relatively easy to find, as the main road runs close to the beach.
Es Carbó
If you’re looking for a peaceful, natural setting, Es Carbó is your spot. To reach this hidden beach, you’ll need to walk about 40 minutes from Colònia de Sant Jordi along the shore, ensuring that it’s less crowded than other beaches. Its clear waters and serene atmosphere make it perfect for unwinding and enjoying tranquility.
Caló des Moró
Located in the southeast of the island, this small cove is known for its crystal-clear waters and rocky surroundings. It’s a paradise for snorkeling enthusiasts, as the waters are full of marine life.
However, since it is one of the most beautiful coves on the island, it tends to get quite crowded. We recommend going early in the morning to find a spot.
Cala Pi
Another hidden gem, Cala Pi, is in the south of the island. Its name comes from the abundance of pine trees (pi in Catalan) in the area. In addition to enjoying the beach, you can explore the nearby village and its famous medieval watchtower.
There’s a cliff that is a popular photo spot, and nearby, you’ll find bars and restaurants to cool off after a long day at the beach.
Aucanada
Near Alcudia, Aucanada Beach is surrounded by pine trees and Mediterranean shrubs, creating a natural and relaxing atmosphere. The waters are clear and shallow, making it an ideal spot for swimming and enjoying the landscape.
While not a fine sandy beach—it consists more of stones, sand, and soil—it is still comfortable. Nearby, there is a small island with the Aucanada Lighthouse, which you can swim or even walk to due to its proximity to the coast.
Cala Formentor
At the northern tip of the island, next to the beautiful town of Pollença, you’ll find this dreamy beach. With fine sand and crystal-clear waters, it’s a popular destination for sun and sea lovers.
Some areas of the beach have pine trees providing natural shade, although bringing an umbrella is always recommended. The surrounding mountains create a spectacular, postcard-worthy landscape.
There are two restaurants in the area: Platja de Mar, which has a beach club concept with sun loungers on the sand, and La Veranda, which serves Italian cuisine like pizzas and pasta, both under the brand of Formentor Beach.
Cala Llombards
In the southeast of the island, this small cove is perfect for those looking for a quiet retreat. Surrounded by cliffs, it offers calm waters with hardly any waves, making it ideal for children.
You can rent sun loungers and umbrellas, and there are basic showers and restrooms. However, we recommend bringing your own food and drinks, as there is only one beach bar offering snacks and beverages.
Cala Varques
This hidden beach is a gem on Mallorca’s east coast. It is only accessible on foot or by boat, ensuring a peaceful environment. Its crystal-clear waters are perfect for swimming and diving. The beach has a hippie vibe, and you may come across vendors selling jewelry, souvenirs, or drinks.
It is a favorite among locals and tourists, especially couples looking for a relaxing spot. It is also a nudist-friendly beach. There are no restaurants, bars, or rental services for umbrellas or loungers, nor are water sports allowed, making it less suitable for families with children.
Cala Agulla
This paradise-like beach on the east coast of the island is surrounded by pine forests and crystal-clear waters, making it an ideal destination for beach and nature lovers.
You can enjoy activities like swimming, snorkeling, and hiking along scenic trails. For those seeking a tranquil retreat with natural beauty, Cala Agulla is a must-visit.
