Just a 15-minute walk from the city center, Can Pere Antoni is Palma’s most accessible beach. This 750-meter-long stretch of golden sand offers great views of La Seu, Palma’s iconic cathedral.

Despite now feels abandoned, it was a favorite among both tourists and locals, which means it can get crowded during peak season. Despite its popularity, the calm waters and proximity to bars and restaurants make it a great choice for a day by the sea.
Cala Major is also known for being near the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró, making it a good stop before or after a beach visit.
Stretching for nearly 5 kilometers, Playa de Palma is one of the largest and busiest beaches near the city. Located around 10 km from the center, it’s a favorite among tourists, especially German and British visitors. This beach is packed with beach clubs, bars, and restaurants, creating a lively atmosphere. If you’re looking for a social, party-friendly beach, Playa de Palma is the place to go. However, if you prefer tranquility, it’s best to visit early in the morning or outside the summer season.
Although Illetes is technically outside Palma, it’s only a 15-minute drive from the city center and is well worth the visit. This small cove has some of the clearest waters near Palma, and the surrounding cliffs add to its charm.
While the beach is free to access, many visitors opt for a more exclusive experience at Balneario Illetas, a chic beach club offering sunbeds, cocktails, and gourmet food.
The beaches in Palma de Mallorca are great for convenience, but they are not the most secluded or pristine on the island. If you’re looking for a true island paradise with dramatic cliffs and crystal-clear coves, you might want to venture further to Cala Pi, Es Trenc, or Cala Mondragó. However, if you want a quick beach escape without leaving the city, Palma’s beaches are a great option.
