Want to truly Visit Sóller Like a Local? You’ll find plenty of tourist guides, but we’re diving deeper. To help you unlock the authentic heart of this stunning destination, we’re sharing 10 insider tips. Here are the first 3 secrets that will elevate your experience from ordinary to extraordinary…
1 – Sóller Parking Secrets: Paid vs. Free
Parking in Sóller can be tough in both the town center and Port de Sóller. But don’t worry, here’s your stress-free guide:
Paid Parking:
- Town: “Parking des Teixidors,” Car Park in Calle Cetre, main road MA-11 paid parking in a parking lot after Repsol Gas Station.
- Port de Sóller: Lepanto, Sa Torre (near Platja d’en Repic).
Free Parking:
- Town Center: Main road sides (near Repsol) – a 10-15 minute walk to Plaça de Sóller.
- Port de Sóller: Calle Mestral (uphill), Calle Bélgica, and nearby streets.
Insider Tip: Remember the road markings: blue = paid, yellow = no parking, white = free, green= only residents.

2 – It is not a city
A very common mistake of visitors nowadays is to interpret Sóller as a city, which can lead them to certain expectations that will not be met. Sóller is a town, a large town, but the idiosyncrasy of this area lies in the tranquility and simplicity of things.
The shop schedules are usually split and the restaurants close the kitchen early (approximately 10:30 PM). Gone are the times when the kitchens were open until 1:00 AM. Currently, from 11:30 PM onwards, you will find little or almost no activity, and in the port, however, is where all the nightlife is concentrated. It should be taken into account that Sóller, together with the towns of the Tramuntana, are some of the most family-friendly and quiet areas of the island.
Insider Tip: If you’re after vibrant nightlife or a wider range of services, consider another destination in Mallorca.
3 – GPS: Proceed with Caution”
Just like parking, Sóller with its narrow streets can be a challenge for any driver who hasn’t visited it.
Heads-up:
- Follow GPS routes carefully.
- Be aware of potential hazards.
Common issues:
- Accidents involving the tram (traffic light + check both sides)
- Cars getting stuck in alleys.
- Traffic congestion.
Insider Tip: GPS shows the fastest route, not always the easiest or safest!
