 The Port of Valldemossa

Valldemossa is not known for its incredible harbour, as it is a 20 minute drive from the village (approximately 8 kilometres), however, this small bay, nicknamed Sa Marina, is a quiet beach, where you will also find a cosy restaurant, Restaurante Es Port, where you can eat a tasty paella or eggs with lobster that will leave no one indifferent.

Alternatively, you will find Caló de s’ Estaca, a small cove popular with hikers and locals alike, because it is a magical place, due to its simplicity as well as the preciousness of its atmosphere. In fact, it is recommended to go only on foot, for which you have to make an excursion, as by car the way is not easy and it can be a nightmare when it comes to parking, due to the scarce parking.
The hike is somewhat complex, but is quite shady due to the holm oak forest that will accompany you throughout the route. Along the way, you will come across the house of Michael Douglas, s’Estaca, who is deeply rooted to the island and very much appreciated by the residents.

Events in Valldemossa

Valldemossa is a place where culture and tradition intertwine in a series of events throughout the year that offer visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in local life and enjoy various celebrations.

Festes de la Beata Catalina Thomàs (July): These festivities in honour of Blessed Catalina Thomàs, the patron saint of Valldemossa, are held at the end of July. Festivities are held around her main feast day, with processions in traditional dress, live music, dances and fireworks.


Chopin Concerts (August): As a tribute to the stay of the famous composer Frédéric Chopin and writer George Sand in Valldemossa, a series of piano concerts are organised at different venues in the village during the month of August. These musical events often take place in the Real Cartuja. 

How to get to Valldemossa

If you are arriving by plane, Palma de Mallorca airport (Son Sant Joan) is located approximately 25-30 kilometres northwest of the airport. You can take a taxi, hire a car at the airport or use public transport to get to Valldemossa. By taxi or car, the journey takes approximately 35 minutes. By taxi from the airport it would cost approximately 55,00€ – 65,00€.
If you wish to use public transport, you should take the EMT nº1 bus from Palma Airport, which will drop you off at Plaza España in Palma, and then go to the Intermodal Station and take the TIB 203 bus. The total journey time is approximately 1 hour, including waiting time and journeys, and the price is between 7,00€ – 11,00€ per person.

Deià enjoys a privileged location in Mallorca and is the perfect place to relax where you will find its Cala de Deià, one of the most beautiful coves in Mallorca, luxury or boutique hotels and enjoy meals with spectacular views and absorb the creativity that emanates from the surroundings. Continuing your journey from Deià, you will reach Sóller and Port de Sóller, located in a beautiful valley of orange groves. Sóller combines Mallorcan authenticity with a rich cultural offer and numerous places of interest, while the port, with its shell-shaped bay, is a major tourist destination on the island worth exploring. If you wish to head towards Andratx, to the west of Valldemossa, you will discover a collection of Mediterranean-style coves and beaches that are a haven of tranquillity. Cala Banyalbufar and es Port D’Es Canonge are about 14 to 17 kilometres from Valldemossa, near the charming village of Banyalbufar. They are rocky beaches and have few tourist facilities such as restaurants and bars, however, they are a perfect place to enjoy the calm and the surroundings. If you continue east, you will find Cala d’Estellencs beach, a small fishing harbour located under majestic cliffs, which are visited by climbing enthusiasts. A natural waterfall known as Torrent de Son Fortuny forms on the cliffs, adding an extra touch of beauty, however, this only occurs when there has been rainfall in the area.
